So last night I did a water change on the Arowana tank like I always do. My arowana has always been cool during water changes and I do them with the lid off. Last night something spooked him and he jumped out the tank and behind a stand where my fat ass couldn???t get to him. In comes my hero Elizabeth Napier-Bonvillain who was able to get in between the tanks and stands. Bare handed she pulled him out and got him back in his tank... she???s my hero!!! The arowana has a torn fin and slightly damaged eye. But he will pull through thanks to Liz.

Elizabeth and I did our first club presentation at the Cichlid CLub of York PA and it was a hit!  We talked about the history of the Cichlid Club of York and how it was created.  Based on the postitive reviews I believe we did a fantastic job!  There was about 40-50 attendees in the house and we gave out prizes (provided by the CCY) to people who answered our questions correctly.   So what's next for us?  Rusty Wessel has invited us to Kentucky to do a presentation for his club in Nov!  Stay tuned for details!!!

Keystone Clash

What an amazing weekend!! The Keystone Clash was a first time event merging of to fintastic clubs, CCY and ACLC, adding onto the already successful "Clash of the Cichlids"! This 3 day event was held in Lancaster county, (home of the amish Allen Rollings??) and I believe ended up being the largest all speices fish show in our area! Everything from big, bad cichlids to tiny bards, and even plants! (I saw duck weed enter and yes it was green, not sure what else to say about duck weed) Speakers of great caliber as Ted Judy, Marc Denaro, Charley Grimes, Joel Antkowiak, and the iceing on the cake, Rusty Wessel!! All the usual suspects were in attendance as well as some new friends made. I just cant say enough about how much fun we had, but I will anyways in the upcoming video. Till then I will just leave this picture here of a group of fish friends, might have been a fish keepers anonymous meeting!! See you on the road!! meeting, and see you on the road!

Hey gang! Hope you are all having a great summer, getting out and enjoying yourself, and your fishy friends! If you have been following our videos (and why wouldnt you :)) you have seen Scott and have been busy trying to hit up all the events! We got to hang with our friends of Cichlids of Pennsylvainia for a relaxing day of food with a massive auction. We went south to our friends at Potomac Vally Aquarium Society and enjoy their annaul picnic and bowl show. We hit some great shops from Pittsburg to D.C. making new friends in our travels! (shout out to Scott Maurer of Reef to Rift)  We also brought back the newsletter "The Cichlid Chronicles" after a brief hiatus by popular demand! Lots of exciting things coming up, but for now the King and I are working hard at home on the website and our tanks, relaxing and trying to stay cool! (It was 110 degrees yesterday! Really!!??) So till next time keep your hands wet and stay cool! -Liz

Too much fun

Hey gang Liz here! As we gear up for summer I just wanna take a minute to look back on the last few months. Scott and I love being a part of the hobby and traveling to different meetings and events. We get to see so many amazing speakers, auctions and friends. This year we have seen talks on big cichlids, tubbing, collecting in other countries and more. We attended The Big Fish Deal hosted by CCA, and The NEC convetion hosted by NECA. We started video blogs,a webpage and have a facebook site! It gets overwhelming at times but is very exciting! This hobby has been so much fun, I have made new friends and learned so much about fish, big and small, conservation, collecting, C.A.R.E.S. and other programs. Every meeting or event is filled with knowledge, laughter, and a sense of community. As we enter into the upcoming months my hope is to blog about each event and share it here. Starting with the BCAS auction coming up on the 14th which if you havent been to their auction it is a must! Last year there was so many lots from sponsors and members it was a whole day of treasures. So till then, keep your hands wet friends!
